Rotaract Mission trip to the Philippines
President John Aufdermauer brought down the gavel at Don Jose’s in Castro Valley, and asked Randy Vanderbilt to lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance.
THOUGHT(s) FOR THE DAY - A Philipine Proverb:  From Habang may buhay, may pag-asa.    Meaning: As long as there is still life, there still lies hope.
SINGING WITH (out) CETA - Dwight Perry led us in a rousing rendition of “God Bless America.”
VISITORS - Mike Bush (tanned and rested . . . grrrr), Tommy Gee (our Hawaiian Rotarian), and Jamie Lam (friend of John Courtney and our InterAct Governor).

PROGRAM - Our speaker today was our very own President of the Rotaract Club of the East Bay, Ellyse Look.  Ellyse topic was the Rotaract Mission trip to the Philippines!  This was the trip that distributed "all those toothbrushes" we collected!  The trip from March 23-29 resulted in servicing multiple groups of people, children and adults, including five primary schools!  With a goal of 1000 toothbrushes, they raised their target to 5,000 and finished with 5,459 toothbrushes – the most coming from CV Rotary at 2,014 (thanks to Jim Negri contributing 1,000 toothbrushes!).
Ellyse's presentation was so rewarding as we were able to see the positive change that is possible because of Rotary and Rotaract!  (Dr. Heiei promotion of speaker included “Guaranteed to make you smile!” - get it?  Toothbrush . . . smile?)
