PAYING IT FORWARD
$10     Bruce Johnson recognized Jim Negri for the tender way he assisted all the students at the recent Student of the Year Luncheon, especially the representative from the CV Adult School.

PROGRAM -    Our program today was Susan Negrin, who lives in Castro Valley near Lake Chabot and works full time for Adobe System.  Her daughter is entering her senior year at Castro Valley High School.  Susan is the local chapter chair of Dining for Women (a group of women that meet one a month for a potluck dinner and donate the money that they would have spent on a night out to charity).  Dining for Women was founded in 2003 in North Carolina.  There are now more than four hundred chapters throughout the country.  The parent organization decides a year in advance which women's groups are going to be that month's recipient.   Susan highlighted one of the groups “Love 146" that deals with sex, slavery and child sex trafficking and exploitation. Two girls are sold every minute around the world.  Susan has been to Nepal and to Africa with this group and she also serves “Bead For Life,” an organization that provides paper to women in Africa. The women make paper beads (which are BEAUTIFUL) and jewelry and organization sells the beads to create income for the women.  Susan attempted to have a drawing for the Dining for Women Cookbook, but Randy Vanderbilt and Jim Phillips decided to auction it off.  Jim won the auction with a $50 bid (very classy, Randy and Jim!).

Tremendous, moving presentation.  For more information on Dining for Women, please visit www.diningforwomen.org . . . for more information on Beads for Life, please visit www.beadforlife.org . . .
