She discussed the evolution and transmission a wide-range of infectious diseases including Influenza, Hantavirus, Vector-borne, Bat, Coronavirus, Dengue, Chikungunya, Ebola, and Zika. Shannon finished with a discussion of SARS, SARS-2, MERS, and HCov and their relationship to the current pandemic.

Shannon Bennett, PhD is the Chief and Dean of Science Research Collections and Associate Curator  of Microbiology at the California Academy of Sciences.  She discussed the evolution and transmission a wide-range of infectious diseases including Influenza, Hantavirus, Vector-borne, Bat, Coronavirus, Dengue, Chikungunya, Ebola, and Zika.  Shannon finished with a discussion of SARS, SARS-2, MERS, and HCov and their relationship to the current pandemic. 
Her outstanding presentation provided incredible detail about infectious diseases, and how they originate and are transmitted to humans.  As Bruce Jonson stated, "If Shannon had been his high school biology teacher, he would have passed the course!".

Bill Nott moved to Castro Valley from Oakland in 1986 and has be a Rotarian since 2007.  He worked as mechanical engineer for Lockheed in Sunnyvale for 25 years  including work on the solar panels and rotary joints for International Space Space (ISS).  Bill graduated with a degree in anthropology and worked 10 years in fiance before he went back to college and earn a degree in mechanical engineer at age 38.  He has been active with the American Society of Engineers to get engineering courses into the pre-collegiate level.
