Participants will enjoy beer, wine, soft drinks, and delicious food provided by Canyons Barbecue, creating the perfect atmosphere for friendly rivalry on the miniature golf course. Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers, and the evening’s champion will receive the event’s highest honor: the Golden Putter, a perpetual trophy that will be passed down annually to future champions. The presentation, titled “My Experience at Arlington National Cemetery,” will take place the day after Memorial Day, offering a meaningful opportunity for reflection on service, sacrifice, and the traditions that honor America’s fallen heroes. Mike served in the prestigious U.S. Navy Ceremonial Guard, earning the coveted Blue Rope and participating in some of the nation’s most significant ceremonial duties. His service included Honor Guard roles in the funerals of Admiral James Stockdale and President Ronald Reagan, as well as numerous ceremonies for fallen Navy SEALs, Marine medics, and other service members who lost their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan. He was also frequently assigned to White House ceremonial details, representing the Navy with distinction. Now a Commercial Real Estate Broker in the San Francisco Bay Area, Mike brings a unique perspective shaped by discipline, honor, and firsthand experience with the rituals that define national remembrance. During his tenure, Mike participated in some of the nation’s most solemn and historic ceremonies. What’s Happening at the Oakland Zoo?Nik Dehejia is the Chief Executive Officer of the Oakland Zoo, a role he has held since April 2021. A dedicated leader with nearly two decades of experience at the zoo, he previously served as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President, where he was instrumental in transformative projects such as the $80 million California Trail expansion. Beyond his leadership at the zoo, Dehejia is an active member of the Rotary Club of Oakland, having joined in March 2021 to support local social services. His professional background is rooted in international public policy and corporate responsibility, including tenures at the World Bank and Levi Strauss & Co.. Dehejia’s civic engagement extends to several regional boards, including Visit Oakland, the Oakland Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, and the Regional Parks Foundation. He holds an MBA from UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business and a BA from Vassar College. A resident of Alameda for nearly 30 years, he remains a passionate advocate for wildlife conservation and community equity within the Bay Area. |
