Rotary District 5170 Governor

Jeff Orth is a member of the Rotary Club of Gilroy where he joined in 1999. He served as President in 2005-2006, the 100thAnniversary year of Rotary. Activities he is most proud of is the formation of “JumpStart”, a District-wide program providing ‘at risk’ youth with pajamas, sport bags, alarm clocks, and notebook computers; the Chartering the Gilroy Sunrise Club; and bringing all the clubs in Area 6 together to collaborate on local and international service projects.

 

Jeff has held many positions at both the local and district level, including Area Representative for the Foundation, Assistant Governor, New Generations Chair, Lieutenant Governor, and the 2015 District Conference Chair. He is a Paul Harris Fellow and a past recipient of the Ward Garing Award for outstanding service to youth in the District. 

Jeff and his wife, Barbara, have three children and three grandchildren. Jeff began volunteering for the Gilroy Garlic Festival and found himself involved in other community service activities. Jeff enjoys being a Rotarian for the many service opportunities involvement brings and the ability of Rotary to multiply the actions of a few to the benefit of many. He is fond of saying, “I joined Rotary for business and fellowship. I stayed to change the world.”
