Call to Order: President Dick Short, President asked that the attendees remember 9/11/01 and the service people around the world as well as locally. He stated today is club assembly day where the club functions are to be explained and comments are welcome.

Guest Recognition: Susan Walen – Rotarians Carrie Alahandra (Hayward Club) and Rick Hood (Niles Club) were in attendance.
Recognitions & Fines
Gail Tully announced her 10th grandchild and gave $100 to the club. Also she and her husband just returned from a 10 day cruise and gave an additional $200 to the club.
Darrell Lavin announced that the production of Oklahoma will be performed at the Castro Valley Fine Arts Center 9/14 through 9/23.
Ceda stated Owen Smith is home and would love visitors.
Roland Williams said his daughter got married last Saturday and gave $100 to the club.
Susan Walen missed a few meetings and gave $50 to the club.
Treasures Report: Jerry Macy gave a report of the club financial position. The club is in good financial shape. Jerry also reported the new high football field will be opening in two weeks.
Dick discussed the following club functions and goals:
Club Service – Some suggestions are more signage directing people to meetings, advertise club speakers in the forum, greeters, and a “We Care” program.
Community Service - Elementary School needs and CV project for persons whoare in need of help.
National Service – Natural disaster help, Indian reservation projects (wheel chairs, etc). chicken eggs and hatchings for schools.
International Service- HIV testing in third world countries.
Rotary Foundation Service
Comments for the club included the following:
Community service – The club to get physically involved and not just write checks.
Purchase dictionaries for schools
Bill Jarvis reported on fundraisers:
The chili cookoff is to be moved Rowell Ranch Rodeo grounds on May 9th, 2008. The club BBQ will be March, date to be determined. Will need auction items. A question was raised about return to a crab feed.
Roland Williams stated the Castro Valley Sanitary District is looking to partner with entities such as Rotary for E-waste events.
Sal Tedesco stated there should be a club information page to state needs in the club. Sal stated he sets-up and breaks down the elements at each meeting and help is welcomed.
