OPENING
President Richard Short greeted everyone and asked PDG Dwight Perry to lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance followed by Bruce Johnson asking thanks for each other and for all we have, asking the Lord’s Blessing on those who serve overseas, remembering Dale Yearian (been part of the rodeo parade committee for decades), and other members not with us due to illness, our meal and fellowship.

AVENUES OF SERVICE UPDATE
President Short reported that the recent Avenues of Service was outstanding. The new format and lay-out of the event was well-received. Six members of our Club attended.
SOVOSO UPDATE
Dr. Darrell Lavin that Sovoso was a tremendous success this past weekend! The 100+ student participants from Castro Valley Schools and Redwood Christian Schools participated in drills, songs and other training activities and then finished their day off at the Sovoso concert on Saturday night! You know that this was a tremendous success at the participants are already asking “when it next year.” Great problem for our community! Thanks, Dr. Darrell, for your leadership of this great event!

UPDATE FROM MAC
Jeff Moore informed the Club about the previous night’s MAC meeting, including the 76-Union service station remodeling and the application by a church to move to the vacant former grocery store across the street from the CV Community Center on Lake Chabot Road.

PROGRAM
Leslie Rothwell introduced the InterActers from Castro Valley High School, Ingrid Wong and Rosie Fan, and from Redwood Christian High School, Dana Reed and Abigail Wallen. These busy students shared past, present and future service opportunities.
The Castro Valley High School InterAct Club numbers approximately fifty students whose activities include helping with the Alameda County library book sale, “Trick or Canning” (collecting cans on Halloween night), Breakfast Club event in Hayward (cook breakfast and play with kids) as well as attending the recent Area 2 Picnic and Fall Leadership Conference in San Jose.
The Redwood Christian High School InterAct Club numbers approximately forty students and their club service activities include food drives for the Salvation Army, “Let’s Go Fishing” (http://www.castrovalleyrotary.org/index_files/Page590.htm), yardwork for elderly neighbors around the school, Thanksgiving meals for the underprivileged, and the Salvation Army shoebox Christmas program (Christmas gifts collected and wrapped into individual gifts in shoe boxes).
Leslie was right as she introduced these four outstanding young people . . . we are truly blessed by the young leaders who will be following us . . .
