PROGRAM

Leslie Rothwell introduced our speaker for the day, Traci Cross,Canyon Middle School and Castro Valley High School, and Dana Puchinelli, who talked about the many aspects there are to mentoring and working with young people.  Traci thanked the Club membership for their on-going support of Youth-2-Youth, the Sober Grad Cruise and other youth programs in our community.  Both Traci and Dana are looking for individuals who can commit an hour a week to make a difference in the life of a middle schooler.  They will train.  All volunteers are finger-printed and must have a clean TB test.  Traci and Dana went to great lengths to be transparent about what kids today are facing and the importance of our getting involved when they are in middle school.  CV Rotarians were also invited to attend CV CAN (Castro Valley Community Action Network) meetings the first Thursday of every month from 4-5:30 in the Castro Valley School District’s board room.
