PROGRAM

Ceta Dochterman introduced today’s speaker, Kimberley Pittman-Schulz. She is the West Coast representative for Christian Children’s Fund (CCF) and was on the tour to Ecuador with Ceta and Luc Dochterman. The tour Ceta and Luc took is one of six offered annually the CCF.  Her talk focused on the formation of CCF and how it has developed over the years.

Half of the world’s population lives on $2 per day; 35% live on $1 per day.  1 of 4 babies are born to poverty.  10M children die eaach year from preventable diseases.

Half of the world's poorest people are children and there are more babies born into poverty than ever before. Despite major advances in medicine, science and technology, one out of four babies is born into extreme poverty and adverse conditions.

Christian Children's Fund understands that poverty is a complex problem, and has more than 65 years of experience in identifying and addressing the root causes of poverty. Within the context of alleviating child poverty, vulnerability and deprivation, CCF creates programs in a variety of different areas that provide practical assistance to impoverished communities and plant the seeds of self-sufficiency.

Mission Statement:  Too many of the world's children suffer the debilitating effects of poverty and violence.

$          Children have the right to experience life with as much joy and hope as possible. Christian Children's Fund creates an environment of hope and respect for children in need in which they have opportunities to achieve their full potential, and provides children, families and communities with practical tools for positive change.

At CCF, we believe:

$          all children deserve an environment of hope, respect and understanding;

$          that poverty is a personal experience for every child and this insight and sensitivity guides all of our actions;

$          it takes a global perspective and collaborative effort in order to substantially impact the issues of poverty that are facing children today;

$          we must work together to create an environment of understanding towards all children embracing cultural and religious differences;

$          that all of our actions must be guided by the utmost integrity and transparency;

$          that we are accountable for all funds we receive, and we will always be upfront and honest with our donors and stakeholders and use these funds in the most efficient and productive manner.

THE HUNT FOR THE CORRECT MARBLE

Kimberley Pittman-Schulz reached into the marble sack and pulled out John Aufdermauer‘s ticket and with $145 at stake and 7 marbles in the sack . . . . reached into it and . . . won . . . $5.00 . . .
