OPENING
President Richard Short greeted everyone and asked Bob Crossett to lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance followed by Bruce Johnson asking thanks to the veterans in our Club for their service to our country, for each other and for all we have, asking the Lord’s Blessing on those who serve overseas as well as the first responders here at home, including our speaker, and our meal and fellowship.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Bruce Johnson brought the Thought for the Day from Admiral Jeremiah Denton: "It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag."
President Richard Short shared another from John Stuart Will: “War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.
