PROGRAM

Dwight Perry introduced Cassandra Phelps, consultant for Eden Hospital talking about rebuilding Eden Medical Center.  Cassandra shared the history and future of Eden Medical Center, which needs to be retrofitted or rebuilt no later than 2013 . . . since 1998 the price has gone from $260M to $400M with changes and seismic standards per the 1984 Northridge earthquake.  Few hospitals meet the new standards.  The new standards are one of the many “unfunded mandates” by the state which, when coupled with other budget challenges makes running the medical center very challenging.  A smaller project was finally approved at $300M wich will have 130 beds (from the current 180).  The next step is an EIR, although the project will not wait for it as the project is being fast tracked as it need sto keep moving to make the various deadlines and limit increased costs.  The driving issue is safety.  Thanks, Cassandra!

THE HUNT FOR THE CORRECT MARBLE

Jeff Moore’s ticket was pulled and with $98 and 11 marbles in the sack, reached in and won . . . .  $5.00 . . .   Congratulations!

See you next week!
