OPENING
Today we welcomed our new
President, Richard Short,
who
opened the meeting and asked Randy Vanderbilt to lead us in the
Pledge of Allegiance followed by Sue Whalen reciting the Four-Way
Test followed by Bruce Johnson’s asking the Lord’s Blessing on our
meal and fellowship, remembering those who serve overseas and at
home to protect the freedoms we enjoy. President Short shared one
of his many duck stories . . . we are in for an interesting year!

PROGRAM
Past District Governor and CV Rotarian Dwight
Perry introduced District 5170 Governor Dick Lohmiller,
who shared his vision and commitment to serving Rotary. He also
commended our Club’s contributions to the Rotary Foundation which
received $14,050 from our Club last year, which ranked us in the top
four clubs throughout District 5170, averaging $271per member
compared to the District’s average of $180. Our Governor has served
many Rotary projects around the world, and shared several personal
stories about how Rotary reaches out and touches people, often times
anonymously. Rotary International and local Clubs are committed to
serving people, wherever necessary through various programs and
taking advantage of unusual opportunities, including investing in
the future and sharing the magic of Rotary.
He stressed that the best way to recruit potential members is
through strengthening the local club and providing opportunities for
people to serve others. He completed his presentation by sharing a
great quote: Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
nothing is going to get better. It's not. (Dr.
Seuss,
The Lorax).
Thanks, Governor Lohmiller! Do visit
www.rotary5170.org to keep
abreast of what is happening throughout the District!
THE HUNT FOR THE CORRECT MARBLE
Mrs. Lohmiller reached into the marble sack and pulled out Dr. Kennelly’s ticket and with $71 at stake and 16 marbles in the sack . . . . reached into it and . . . won . . . $5.00 . . . Congratulations!
