President Dick Short welcomed everyone and asked former CV Rotarian (and Past-president) and current Hayward Rotarian Mary Caldwell to lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance followed by President Short giving thanks for our student speakers today, our armed services personnel at home or overseas, first responders, our Great Country, its leaders and our defenders.

Bill Jarvis reminded everyone of our annual bbq fundraiser will be Saturday, March 8, at Transfiguration Church and that we are still searching for auction items. Today was our Club Speech Meet with representatives from Castro Valley High School: Gloria Zhu and Michael Linsdale and Redwood Christian High School: Amanda Chin, Caitlin Kincaid, Bethany Mueller.
The final results: First Place - Bethany Mueller; Second Place - Caitlin Kincaid; Third Place - Amanda Chin. Bethany will now move to the next level of competition representing the CV Rotary Club at the San Leandro Rotary Club on March 5, 2008 at 12 noon, Sequoyah Country Club, 4550 Heafey Road, Oakland.
