PROGRAM
President Dick Short introduced Bruce Johnson with the background of Camp RYLA, who showed pictures from the annual Thursday night bar-b-que, and then introduced Caitlin Magee and Tim Voogd, seniors at Redwood Christian High School, who shared their experiences at Camp RYLA last summer (the students from Castro Valley High School could not attend due to an Advanced Placement test conflict). Caitlin and Tim answered several questions, including: What is this about "families" at RYLA? Which family were you in? Which group were you part of and what did your group do? Did you find it difficult to "fit in" at RYLA? Did you personally benefit from the RYLA experience? If so, how? What was the most memorable experience you had at RYLA? How will your RYLA experience benefit you for the future? Their responses confirmed that our investment in the leaders from Castro Valley High School and Redwood Christian High School is a good investment.
Caitlin Magee spoke for all our RYLA campers with her “thank you:”
Twas
the week during RYLA and all the grounds
new friendships were forming up, up in bounds.
There were lectures to be heard and presentations to give
all explaining how leaders ought to live.
Each module that I attended taught me something new
time management and constructive praise are just to name a few.
Now as president I encourage my peers
to be the best they can be without any fears.
Thank you dear Rotary members for sending me to that place
now a better leader I can be in each and every case.
Thank you, Caitlin and Tim, for a GREAT presentation!
THE HUNT FOR
THE CORRECT MARBLE
Dr. Darrel Lavin’s ticket was pulled and with $71 and 17 marbles in the sack, reached in and won . . . . $5.00 . . . Congratulations!
