LUC DOCHTERMAN'S GOAL IS TO BUILD FABRICIO AND HIS FAMILY A HOME!

Luc, son of Ceta, has set a goal to raise $3,978.37 to build a little boy named Fabricio and his family a home in Equador.  Luc has also targeted raising an additional $1000 for other expenses that the family experiences.  Luc and his Mom visited Equador on a recent trip and learned of the need.  Luc is a seven-year-old elementary school student with a vision, and he is collecting cans, plastic bottles and cash to make this dream come true for his little friend.  Ceta is behind him all the way and is willing to have cans/plastic bottles dropped off at her house, take them home from the CV Rotary meetings or come pick them up!  Contact Ceta by email at "Ceta Dochterman" <DocCeta@SBCGlobal.net> and be an encouragement to Luc and Ceta . . . by the way, be sure to ask Luc to see his pictures of his friend . . .

FOUR-WAY TEST CONTINUATION

President Short continued his presentation on the Rotary Four-Way Test trying to trick us a little by asking what year did Paul Harris write the four-way test . . . but he was caught with a resounding response of “Paul Harris did not write the four-way test!”  Good for us for paying attention!

PROGRAM

Holly Mortimer introduced today’s speaker: Ms. Monica R. Des Jarlais, Moreau Catholic High School's new president.  Ms. Des Jarlais shared just how she managed to find her way to Moreau, starting her journey in Hawaii and then going to Georgia!  Although still a long ways from Hawaii, she prefers

California to Georgia!  As President, she is not involved in the day-to-day running of the school as that is the Principal’s job.  She is responsible to protect the Mission of the School and to ensure that programs are in line with their Mission Statement and Goals and Objectives.  She stressed that Moreau was the perfect fit for her as they have balanced diversity (25% Asian, 25% Hispanic, 25% Black and 25% White) while offering a truly Catholic education to all, regardless of their religious beliefs.  She stressed that her true loves were God, Family and Catholic Education.  God and Family are self-explanatory, but her love for Catholic Education is also tremendous as she recognized years ago that Catholic Education has helped every immigrant group throughout time.  Moreau is a Holy Cross School, one of twenty-one in the country, and that 30% of students are on financial aid.  Ms. Des Jarlais stated “Moreau is all about academic excellence having a rate of 99% of graduates go on to college and that we are a cutting edge school (especially in the area of technology, broadcasting ,science and fine arts) that is getting students really prepared for life.”  We welcome President Des Jarlais to our extended community!  (For more information about Moreau Catholic High School, please visit http://www.moreaucatholic.org/)

THE HUNT FOR THE CORRECT MARBLE

Ms. Des Jarlais  reached into the marble sack and pulled out Mark Wodyka’s ticket and with $105 at stake and 13 marbles in the sack . . . . reached into it and . . . won . . . $5.00 . . .  Congratulations!
