PROGRAM

Holly Mortimer introduced today’s speaker, Union City Mayor Mark Green.  Mayor Green opened his presentation by encouraging members of the Castro Valley community NOT to give up in becoming a city.  He listed multiple benefits for cityhood, while recognizing that there are many, many challenges.  Mayor Green covered a number of topics for us, both from a local (Union City) perspective and from a county perspective.  The three main topics he covered were transportation, housing and waste diversion (garbage).

Mayor Mark Green is a very busy man who serves on the following committees:

Alameda County Transportation Authority (ACTA)

Alameda County Transportation Improvement Authority (ACTIA)

Alameda County Congestion Management Agency (CMA)

Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG)

Alameda County Waste Management Authority

Economic Development Alliance for Business (EDAB)

Alameda County Conference of Mayors

He also encouraged all present to get involved in the system and listed openings on Supervisor Miley’s various advisory committees.  For more information about Mayor Green or to enlist his assistance, visit http://www.unioncity.org/gov/city_council.htm . . .  We so appreciate his sharing his position from the inside out . . .

 What's up Kim?

THE HUNT FOR THE CORRECT MARBLE

Mayor Green reached into the marble sack and pulled out Bruce Johnson’s ticket and with $94 at stake and 14 marbles in the sack . . . . reached into it and . . . won . . . $5.00 . . .  Congratulations!
